New York. No sleep! Hay-on-Wye. Books! We’re equally happy to party or to read, and last year Thomson & Scott founder Amanda Thomson and the family visited Hay-on-Wye for the first time. It was a weekend of glorious countryside, food and plenty of reading – as our daughter put it, “I’ve never met a bookshop I didn’t like!”
And in Hay-on-Wye, famous world-wide for its second-hand and antiquarian bookshops, there are over 20 different establishments packed high with reading matter.
As a brand Thomson & Scott also loves a bit of social media. While in Hay-on-Wye Amanda discovered that she was a “Bookstagrammer”. This tribe of Instagram fans uses the platform to celebrate the art of the book and to find new reading recommendations.
We’re involved in this year’s Hay-on-Wye Bookstagram & Independence Celebrations, culminating in the Bookstagrammys this Saturday night. While Thomson & Scott Prosecco bottles will be cheering on the winners, we’ll be planning our visit to the Hay Festival later this year. For now, you can download the full Bookstagram program here.
