Jessica Vosk - A Noughty Wedding: Celebrating Without Compromise
There are some moments when I’m reminded exactly why I started Noughty.
A wedding is perhaps the ultimate example.
For generations, weddings and Champagne have been almost inseparable. The toast, the reception, the dinner, the dancing... A glass in your hand has always been part of the picture.
So I loved hearing that Broadway star Jessica Vosk and David Godar chose to pour Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rosé at their wedding this summer.
Jessica and David, who are both sober, were married at June Farms in upstate New York in a wonderfully theatrical three-day celebration surrounded by family, friends and considerable Broadway glamour.
I love that they clearly thought carefully about what everyone would be drinking.
Alongside the traditional open bar, they apparently created an extensive alcohol-free offering featuring some of the drinks they genuinely enjoy themselves including my Noughty wine.
That detail made me particularly happy because this is exactly what we hoped would happen when we created Noughty. Choosing not to drink alcohol wouldn’t mean being handed the alternative option while everyone else got the good stuff.
You should still have a beautiful glass. You should still be part of the toast. And what’s poured should feel every bit as considered as everything else on the table.
Increasingly, I think people are realising that a great celebration isn’t defined by how much alcohol is served. It’s defined by the people, the food, the music, the conversation.
In Jessica and David’s case, there was apparently a thunderstorm, five wedding dresses and an impromptu performance from Tony Award winner Alex Newell...
The fact that Noughty was there amongst all of that is wonderful for me and the team at Noughty.
And then came another lovely surprise: PEOPLE magazine noticed too, mentioning Noughty in its exclusive coverage of the wedding.
For a British brand that began with a simple idea, that alcohol-free wine deserved to be every bit as delicious, beautiful and celebratory as wine with alcohol, seeing Noughty being poured at occasions like this still gives me a thrill.
Congratulations Jessica and David. Thank you for inviting Noughty to the party.
Here’s to many more celebrations where everyone gets to raise a proper glass!
