We’re Helping Newquay go Plastic-Free!
Major Coastline Initiative Expands
Every little bit helps? Thomson & Scott Skinny Prosecco is doing its bit with 100% recyclable packaging, and initiatives like compostable eco straws (a big hit with the front row crowd at London Fashion Week. It’s all about the lipstick – mwah!).
Plastic Free Newquay is attempting a giant step towards a more sustainable future by joining the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Coastlines initiative.
This coalition gives ideas on alternatives to everyday products that you can’t live happily without: swapping bamboo for the usual materials in toothbrushes and keepcups instead of the commonly used plastic-coated paper variety that can’t easily be recycled. Loads of events are planned, companies are signing up, and schools are getting involved.
It’s the kind of drive that will grow, and the aim is to link with coastal communities up and down the UK. Places like Newquay are the canaries in the mine for plastic because citizens are only too aware of the water bottles and other detritus lining up on the beaches.
Thomson & Scott Skinny Prosecco is on the wine list in some of our favourite Newquay bars: Fistral Blu, the Headland Hotel and the Central Inn.
We won’t digress here into the brilliance of their cocktails and the views from their windows, but add them to the top of your visit-list the next time you’re lucky enough to be in Newquay and Fistral Beach.
We’ve banned disposable coffee cups from the Thomson & Scott office, have imposed a fine system on anyone spotted with a one-use carrier bag, and hate to think what will happen if any employee is ever caught sipping using a plastic straw. Even if it’s to keep lipstick front row-worthy.
